Condemnation from the Thai Government on Cambodia’s Actions: A Violation of Sovereignty and Protection of Civilian Lives
The ongoing confrontation between Thailand and Cambodia has been strongly condemned by the Thai government after Cambodia's military used heavy artillery to attack civilian areas, resulting in the loss of several Thai lives. The attack also destroyed critical infrastructure and cannot be justified under any circumstances. The Thai government has made its position clear in defending the sovereignty and ensuring the safety of its citizens in the border areas.
Unacceptable Attack
On July 24, 2025, the Cambodian military launched an attack using BM-21 rockets and other heavy weapons, targeting areas populated by Thai civilians in the provinces of Surin and Ubon Ratchathani. The areas attacked were home to thousands of Thai citizens, including key facilities such as hospitals and important institutions. The attack resulted in multiple casualties, including children and the elderly who were not involved in the ongoing military conflict. The Thai government cannot accept such actions that lead to the loss of innocent lives due to unjust military aggression.
Defending Thailand’s Sovereignty
As a government entrusted by the people, the Thai government cannot tolerate any violation of its sovereignty. It is ready to exercise its right to defend the country under international law to protect the lives and property of its citizens. This attack not only caused humanitarian suffering but also undermined good diplomatic relations between countries in the region, creating unnecessary tensions.
Government’s Statement
The Prime Minister issued a statement on social media, declaring that the Thai government will take all necessary measures to protect Thai citizens from further attacks and emphasized that "the time for negotiations has ended." The actions of Cambodia are no longer acceptable, and the Thai government is prepared to respond militarily in accordance with international law.
Assistance for Affected Citizens
In response, the Thai government has ordered relevant agencies to establish relief centers for those affected by the attack. Field hospitals have been set up to treat the injured, and efforts to evacuate citizens from high-risk areas are ongoing. The government is also collaborating with humanitarian agencies to provide aid to those impacted by the event.
Cambodia's actions are a violation of international law and have a significant impact on the security and safety of Thai citizens. The Thai government is committed to defending the sovereignty and lives of its people and will take decisive action to combat any unjust acts, ensuring justice and peace in the region.
